There’s a Panera Bread just a block away from the Hollywood Theatre (next to Trader Joe’s) that’s undergoing some changes. It’s closing it’s doors until Sunday, January 16 when they will reopen as a Panera Cares Community Cafe. Essentially it’s a pay what you can restaurant to serve not only those who would normally eat out, but also those who struggle to pay for food.
I remember hearing about this months ago and thought it was a great, innovative idea. It’s nice to see a nationwide country open its arms to the less fortunate and there’s a sense of pride that it’s happening in your own neighborhood. I really hope that the program is as success and others take notice. You can read more about it here.
