In a last minute addition to the Grindhouse presentation of Boxer’s Omen, Dan will also be showing Shogun Assassin fresh off of his screening it at the Northwest Film Center! Just like at recent Grindhouse events, beer will be sold, so that means 21+.
Tuesday night at 7:30 at the Hollywood Theatre, The Grindhouse Film Festival presents the only known 35mm print of the mind-boiling Chinese psychedelic horror film BOXER’S OMEN. Plus, just added at 9:30, the ultra-violent samurai vengeance masterpiece SHOGUN ASSASSIN! If you ask me, this is the greatest double bill in the history of double bills. Don’t miss it! $7 for one movie, or $10 for both (if you’ve already bought a Boxer’s Omen ticket, you can pick up $3 Shogun Assassin tickets at the door). Advance tickets are on the website: www.grindhousefilmfest.com
BOXER’S OMEN (1983) A man sets out on a surreal adventure to find the man who crippled his brother. He hooks up with a group of monks fighting an evil wizard who killed their leader, and finds he’s supernaturally linked to the dead man. The wizard is a master of black magic, and indulges in vomit inducing practices to hold his power. Buckle up, because good and evil will have to throw down in monstrously epic WIZARD BATTLES! Laser beams, crocodile carcasses, and a levitating alien head that hatches from a psychedelic egg are only the beginning of this wild ride. Prepare for your jaw to hit the floor and your brain to bleed out of your ears. This is some of the weirdest nightmarish imagery ever burned into celluloid! This is the cinematic event of the year, and in proper preparation for this movie, we’ll be handing out barf bags.
SHOGUN ASSASSIN (1980) The ultra-violent story of Lone Wolf and Cub! Tomisaburo Wakayama stars as Lone Wolf, “the greatest samurai in the empire”. When he is betrayed and his wife murdered by the shogun’s ninjas, he takes his young son on “the road to hell” and seeks out blood soaked vengeance. Roaming the countryside, they face off with countless ninjas and assassins, and are ultimately led to a confrontation with the Masters of Death, three of the fiercest killers in the history of cinema. This movie is action packed and relentlessly violent with blood geyser arterial showers at every turn. “Meet the greatest team in the history of mass slaughter!”
Beer will be provided by Bridgeport Brewery. 35mm exploitation trailers before each movie.
No trailer for Boxer’s Omen, but here’s a brief clip:
